This year’s AIDS Walk Los Angeles takes place Sunday, October 23. For 31 years, teams of thousands of supporters walk to raise money and awareness for the fight against HIV and AIDS. The event’s proceeds go directly to over 20 Los Angeles AIDS prevention and treatment organizations, primarily APLA Health.
These organizations provide medical services, housing, and education to aid individuals and families struggling with HIV and AIDS. The education of both HIV and AIDS is essential for preventing thousands of Americans from infections. It also reduces the stigma of AIDS and helps those who are HIV positive have a higher quality of life.
Over one million dollars have already been raised for the event so far. AIDS and HIV affect thousands of Los Angeles residents and AIDS Walk Los Angeles has been life-changing for them all. Walkers form teams and set fundraising goals. Teams can be formed by any group of people, including schools, organizations, and businesses (just like ours at Open Source Organics).
There are over 60 corporate sponsors ranging from national companies to local Los Angeles corporations. Many local Los Angeles businesses have also donated to the AIDS Walk Los Angeles for years. Open Source Organics is a proud supporter of the AIDS Walk and will be participating as Team Burrito on October 23rd.
